Arts

Your current Arts Rep, Arts Festival Organiser and Arts Fund Manager is Maria Fleischer.

Drama

'A Theory of Justice: The Musical' co-written by Brasenostrils and starring some of our finest fresher thesps has recently hit the Keble O'Reilly to resounding success.

Music

From the College Chapel Choir, to the Brazen Flutes, to Open Mics and the soft sound of ukulele chords drifting from undergrad rooms, Music is alive and thriving at Brasenose. Regular lunchtime concerts are organised to display the talents of various college members, whilst the Sunday evening Platnauer concerts bring external musicians into college.

Arts Festival

Brasenose plays host to 6 days of drama, dance, music, art, film, and general festivities every Trinity term in 3rd week. The festival is entirely run by BNC students, and a huge majority of input and contributions come from BNC. It is an extremely enjoyable few days, with something for everyone to enjoy. The college is opened up to other students and the public, to offer them the chance to enjoy the excellent quality of performances and exhibits on offer.

In 2012 the Arts Festival featured 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf', performed in the intense, claustrophobic setting of the Platnauer Room, Coward's 'Blythe Spirit' and Ibsen's 'A Doll's House' performed in a beautifully re-turfed New Quad, Tommy Peto and Tris Puri's comedy duo, Jazz on the Quad, a bake-off, a 'mods and rockers' night of live music in the bar, a cabaret, a Bhangra workshop, poetry readings, a screening of 'Nosferatu' in the chapel and much, much more!

Funding

The Brasenose Arts Fund, supported by the JCR and College, offers financial support to Oxford-based artistic endeavours. Applications are made by submitting a bid, budget and desired amount to the Arts Rep.  The Arts Committee meets to decide on the allocation of funds to the various causes, based on their relative merits, their alternative sources of funding, the level of BNC involvement in the project, and other considerations.

The deadline for applications for Trinity Term and the Easter/Long Vacations is Friday of 7th week (1st March). Please apply by sending a bid and budget to maria.fleischer@bnc.ox.ac.uk
