Music Society

Your current Arts Rep, Arts Festival Organiser and Arts Fund Manager is Maria Fleischer.

Brasenose's increasingly lively musical environment seeks to foster music at a high level. The College Choir, the Music Society, the Organ Scholar, the Platnauer Concerts, and the Principal's Concerts all contribute to promoting musical excellence.

Recital Series

Recitals take place regularly in the Brasenose College Antechapel. Recent chamber performances have included Voces8 and Phantasm, whilst soloists from both Brasenose and other colleges perform often. Performers are strongly encouraged to contact the Music Society President if they wish to participate in the recital series.

Arts Week

During the Brasenose Summer Arts Festival, which takes place during Trinity Term, lunchtime and evening recitals are given throughout the week. See the Arts Week website for details of the events. As with the recital series, musicians of all genres are warmly invited to perform at the Arts Festival ‒ express your interest to the Arts Festival Director.

Platnauer Concerts

The Platnauer concerts honour the memory of Maurice Platnauer, a former Principal of Brasenose (1956- 1960). At the end of each concert, everyone is welcome to join the Principal and Fellows for refreshments in the SCR. The concerts, held in the college chapel in the 3rd week of each term, commence at 21:00. Recent performers have included Jack Liebeck (violin), Richard Harwood (cello), and Guy Bovet (organ). We look forward to the next performance from Terence Charlston this Trinity, performing the Goldberg Variations, on Sunday 15th May at 9pm.
